Our Story

Like many small businesses, Crafts by Kate, was born out of lockdown. That was when I decided, after nearly ten years in Marketing, to take the scary plunge and open my own small business. But my story began long before then.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the easiest childhood spending many years in and out of hospital. And although that had a happy ending, it did leave some mental health scars.

Flash forward to, me at 27 in the middle of a pandemic with high-functioning anxiety and unable to leave the house. I did what any normal person would do, I started to sew. Sewing was my therapy but there are only so many scrunchies you can make for yourself…

So, I started my own small business. At first, Crafts by Kate focused on face masks and scrunchies but since then

it’s become so much more with dog bandanas, baby bibs and our popular knotted headbands!

Our only rule is – you can never have too many patterned accessories!

We are incredibly passionate about supporting the LGBTIQA+ community. 

Each of our Pride Collections always includes dedicated pieces whose sales are donated to charities within the community.
